Providing top-quality equine dentistry services requires more than just skilled hands and a keen eye.
To ensure the highest standards of oral health for your equine clients, it’s essential to have a toolkit that’s as comprehensive as it is precise.
Designed and tested by the leading equine dental vets in the industry, MAI Animal Health manufactures reliable and consistently high-quality products. Combined with unparalleled service and support, MAI Animal Health is the go-to source for equine dental instruments
From the classics to the cutting-edge, let’s dig into the instruments that can elevate your practice, improve diagnostic accuracy and enhance the overall well-being of your equine patients.
For every equine dental professional:
A high-quality speculum is essential for a thorough equine dental examination and any treatments that need to occur. The X Spec™ Equine Speculum is the next generation of the original AlumiSpec™, known and trusted throughout the industry.
The X Spec™ is lightweight, works for all sizes of horses and uses a cinch-lock system for infinite access to a patient’s oral cavity. The wider design provides more space between the horse’s cheek and speculum to accommodate digital radiography plates for obtaining dental films – X-rays can be taken with the speculum on the patient!
Accurate evaluation and diagnosis of any dental issues are the first steps toward a healthier horse. The Equine Diagnostic Kit has the basic instruments every equine dental professional needs for a routine examination. The kit includes The Edge Equine™ Mouth Mirror and Dental Pick, Replacement Mouth Mirror, VDP Equine Periodontal Pick, 11” Alligator Forceps, Periodontal Probe and Explorer, all in a convenient Carrying Case.
For floating:
Floating is a key aspect of regular equine dental maintenance. MAI Animal Health has several options so you can find a float that fits your practice.

Maintenance
Quality dental instruments are vital to the success of your practice, but sometimes they require a substantial investment. Regular maintenance is necessary to get the most life out of your instruments.
Proper maintenance begins with a thorough cleaning after each use. Resist the temptation to put your equipment in the truck at the end of the day with the intention of cleaning it tomorrow. Using a cleaner or disinfectant after each use will help keep your instruments operating in top condition and will help prevent the spread of disease.
Cleaning and maintenance instructions are included in the manual for each instrument. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Nothing can prevent all equipment failure, but following proper maintenance procedures can minimize it.
